No-one should be alone during the COVID-19 crisis. Find out how to get help and support from YourNeighbour.org.

No-one should be alone during the COVID-19 crisis.

YourNeighbour.org’s National Call Centre is for anyone who needs help during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. They are working with the Government and NHS to provide vital food, advice and other support to people who need help across the country.  Over 1000 churches in the UK belong to the YourNeighbour.org network and are in every community, providing volunteers who are safe and well supported.

Telephone support

The people answering YourNeighbour.org’s phones are all enhanced DBS checked and are able to take calls and provide emotional support. They will support the caller and either connect them to a local church for simple tasks providing:

  • food shopping
  • trips to the pharmacy
  • dog walking
  • a listening ear for people who are lonely
  • other simple tasks

Or, where their need is greater, provide them with specialist support:

  • trauma or bereavement counselling and emotional support over the phone
  • emergency food parcels
  • debt counselling
  • benefits advice
  • safeguarding support
  • mental health care

They also link to a friendship line that provides an opportunity to break the isolation many are feeling and can – where appropriate – link people up with pastoral support in their local areas.
