Poem
It was on Thursday morning, the kids were still in bed,
I went into the kitchen, the family to be fed
We’ve ample empty boxes, in the cupboard, that’s so bare,
The fridge seems also empty, more ice than milk or fayre
No Weetabix or cornflakes, no muesli, fromage frais
The posh stuff’s just a dream to me, maybe another day
And as the little angels sit closely on one chair
My hands ring out in anger, I’ve nothing but despair
Then from behind the Flora, I see a solitary egg
I’m sorry kids it’s all I have, you’ll have to share instead
Then off to school the kids they go, my hunger pangs increase
I’ll have a glass of water and hope the pains decrease
So spare a thought for those in need until you’ve worn their shoes
Don’t judge, condemn, just show His love and make a donation, please!
